The Milton Menace went on the road this week and took down a key rival.
On Wednesday, January 15th, the Menace went to the Mold Masters Sportsplex to take on the Georgetown Raiders. The Menace were 2-0 against the Raiders this season heading into the game.
Georgetown jumped out to a quick lead in the first period. Before the end of the frame, Luke Johnston would tie the game up. His 19th of the season was on the powerplay, and assisted by Ivan Fabjan and Captain Graeme MacAuley. It was 1-1 after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, neither team found the back of the net. Milton kept the pressure on, leading 13-7 in the shots category.
The Raiders would then take back the lead with another early goal in the third period. But, just like in the first period, Johnston would tie things up. His 20th of the year was assisted by Madden MacDougall and 16-year-old Ryder Cali. With just over five minutes left in the game, MacDougall would get a goal of his own on the powerplay. Justin Dezoete and Ryder Cali got the apples. That would then be followed up an empty netter from MacDougall. The Menace beat the Raiders 4-2.
In net for Milton was the all-star, Austin McKillop. He stopped 21 of 23 shots, giving him a .913% save percentage.
The Menace return home on Friday, January 17th to play the Niagara Falls Canucks. Puck drop at the Milton Memorial Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. Buy your tickets for any/all home games here.
