Two Guelph men have been arrested after breaking into a rural farm property in Milton.
As a result of an ongoing investigation, members of the Guelph Police Service Break Enter Auto Theft Unit attended a farm property near Mohawk Casino just before 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9th. They observed a padlock had been cut off a farm gate to gain access to the property.
Officers located two men sitting in a vehicle beside an open barn door, and observed a fire inside the barn with plastic and copper wire burning. A search of the car revealed a large amount of stripped copper wire, as well as bolt cutters and other tools.
A 45-year-old Guelph man and a 39-year-old Guelph man are each charged with break and enter, possessing break-in tools and possessing stolen property. They were held for bail hearings Friday.
