The Dufferin Detachment of the OPP has removed six impaired drivers from the roads in Dufferin County so far this year.
Between January 1 and January 9, 2025, Dufferin OPP officers charged six motorists with 29 impaired driving-related offences, compared to three motorists charged with nine impaired driving-related offences during the same period in 2024. What’s truly heartwarming is that six out of the seven impaired drivers were reported by concerned citizens, showing the power of community involvement in keeping our roads safe. The Dufferin OPP extends their heartfelt thanks to both the dedicated officers and the vigilant community members for their continued efforts. Together, we are not only making our roads safer but possibly saving lives in the process.
Dufferin OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Consider using a designated driver, a cab, rideshare service, public transit, or staying overnight. Even a small amount of alcohol or drugs can impair your judgment, leading to potentially tragic consequences in just a split second.
