On Tuesday, December 6, 2022, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women, FTP will be hosting an outdoor, in-person ceremony at their Orangeville office.
Join in remembering the 14 women killed in 1989 and the many women who have lost their lives to gender-based violence since.
FTP’s Executive Director, Norah Kennedy, will open the ceremony with words of reflection and a moment of silence, which will be followed by the reading of a proclamation and comments from Mayor Lisa Post.
Guests will then join together in a conversation circle, and be invited to share their own perspectives, reflections and experiences on what this day means to them.
As a community, it is important to continue recognizing this tragic day and honouring the women who continue to be senselessly murdered.
We must all re-commit to action on violence against women—an issue that affects everyone.
