Orangeville’s Royal Canadian Legion Branch 233 will conduct a dedication ceremony for the new veterans’ monument placed at the Greenwood Cemetery on September 25.
The ceremony will incorporate the renowned Act of Remembrance service dictated by legion tradition.
Attendees are expected to include MP Kyle Seebach, MPP Sylvia Jones, Mayor Sandy Brown and members of Orangeville Council, Royal Canadian Legion Zone Commanders, Sponsors and Donors, and a Legion Colour Party.
The project began in 2017, but with the onset of Covid-19 and resultant shortfall in fundraising, it was shelved in 2019.
Efforts were renewed in 2020 through inquiries and informational meetings with Mayor Brown.
The service will begin Sunday, Sept.25 at 11:30 a.m., with a reception to follow at the Legion.
