The Town of Milton is investing over $3.7 million in public parks this year.
The funding will go towards designing and building quality and accessible parks for the community.
Each year, Milton expands and enhances its park inventory, through new park development and redevelopment.
“Investing in neighbourhood parks helps support our vision of being a thriving, green and inclusive community,” says Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. “By continuing to develop and improve parks, we are giving residents access to more green spaces, where they can be social, active and connect with nature.”
This year, Walker Neighbourhood Park, Baldwin Park and Chris Hadfield Park, are going through the design process, and community engagement for these parks will launch later this spring.
The following parks are undergoing construction this year:
- Cobban Neighbourhood Park (spring/summer/fall)
- Omagh Park (spring/summer)
- Moorelands Park (late summer/fall)
Four parks are also undergoing various minor upgrades this year such as community garden expansion, tennis court enhancements, drainage improvements and new in-ground waste containers.
“The Town takes pride in creating shared outdoor spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy,” says Town of Milton Commissioner Kristene Scott. “As Milton grows and develops, parks play an important role in our community and neighbourhoods. We look forward to continue building and designing parks for the community, with the community mind.”
As part of Milton’s long-term planning, Milton Council approves park development and redevelopment projects annually through the capital budget.
