With the clocks set to spring forward this Sunday, the Orangeville Fire Department is reminding residents to check their smoke alarms.
Condon says there’s even incentive to do so.
Fire inspection officer Kelly Condon says fire departments traditionally use Daylight Saving Time as an earmark in the calendar to issue the reminder.
She says in the past, batteries didn’t last as long, so a reminder would be issued every 6 months, but with improved battery lifespans, the fire department settles for an annual reminder.
