Featured by American music blog, Ones to Watch and coming off the heels of touring with Canadian superstar, City and Colour, Shelburne singer/songwriter, Ruby Waters is about to blow up.
Waters spoke to myFM News about her success, which includes a recently released debut EP titled “Almost Naked” that’s already garnered 1.6 million Spotify streams.
Although she’s now based in Toronto, Waters still spends a lot of time in Shelburne and Orangeville and says it’s been nothing but love whenever she returns home, which allows her to keep level-headed.
‘Canada has got so much great art’, states Waters and says it’s a joy to watch Canadian musicians finally getting credit they deserve outside the country.
Waters’ sound currently occupies the indie/alternative genre but don’t be surprised if somewhere down the line you hear her collaborating with fellow First Nations artists like the Snotty Nose Rez Kids.
Waters says her Métis heritage inspires much of her art.
Waters is now focused on ironing out the details of an upcoming album and producing more music that she says dips into electronic and hip hop melodies.
