‘But just a message to our young people — you have such a future ahead of yourselves. You may feel invincible and you’ll get through it; it’s not just about yourself getting through it, it’s about your parents and your grandparents’.
Those were Ontario premier Doug Ford’s words to adults in their 20’s and 30’s who have accounted for an average of 68 new COVID-19 cases a day over the last week.
Orangeville mayor, Sandy Brown attributes the trend among Millennials to earlier messages Canadians were told by health officials about the contagious disease.
Health officials say young adults are contracting COVID-19 in large droves now that restaurant patios are opening up and some are easing their cabin fever at indoor house parties, but Brown isn’t worried about a spike happening locally.
At this point last month, people in their 20’s and 30’s had only accounted for 28 per cent of all cases.
