Canadian Armed Forces whistleblowers are exposing disturbing conditions they saw at five Ontario long term care homes.
Ontario premier Doug Ford announced the province is now launching an investigation into those five facilities that could lead to criminal charges.
Military personnel, who have been providing assistance at Ontario and Quebec long term care centers since April 28th, reported observing elder abuse that ranged from neglect to unhygienic behaviours putting seniors at risk.
The five facilities called out in the report are Orchard Villa in Pickering, Altamont Care Community in Scarborough, Eatonville in Etobicoke, Hawthorne Place in North York and Holland Christian Homes Grace Manor in Brampton.
Ford says he has ordered the reports to be released and says he’s asked the military to extend their mission in long-term care for another 30-days.
