There is a sense of urgency at Shelburne Town Hall following Orangeville council’s decision in December to disband Orangeville Police Service (OPS).
The switch to OPP in Orangeville means police-related projects in Shelburne that were put on the backburner, have to be addressed sooner rather than later.
Mayor Wade Mills says Shelburne Police Service (SPS) has relied on OPS to take prisoners when its cells were full.
Shelburne will also have to find a new dispatcher. SPS and other emergency services in Dufferin use OPS’ communication centre for dispatching.
Shelburne council will hold a special meeting on Monday (Jan. 20) to discuss these matters.
