The federal election is right around the corner.
Milton is being split in half to create two separate ridings this time around. ‘Milton East’ will pair with ‘Halton Hills South’ for one of them, and the other will see ‘Milton West’ pair with ‘Burlington North’. Read more on the new ridings here.
There are a total of 10 official candidates between the two ridings. This is our 6th interview leading up to the big day.
Naveed Ahmed is the candidate for the New Democratic Party (NDP) in the ‘Burlington North-Milton West’ riding.
Here’s our interview:
INT – Let’s start things off nice and easy. Give me an elevator pitch on your platform/the party’s platform. What are your priorities?
INT – So, to expand on that, affordability is an ongoing issue for nearly all Miltonians. What can the federal government do to improve the cost of living, whether that be housing, groceries or anything that we spend on our money on?
INT – The topic that’s on everyone’s mind is the tariffs with the United States. People are trying their best to buy local/Canadian. How should the federal government handle the ongoing trade war with the US?
INT – You did touch on environmental issues in your last response, but I want to focus on two specific issues affecting Miltonians. There’s the CN Intermodal Hub and the Campbellville Quarry. Do you plan on helping residents fight back against these issues should you be named one of Milton’s MPs on Monday?
INT – The last one before I let you go is open-ended. Are there any other issues, topics or concerns that you’d like to address that I haven’t asked about yet?

The election is set for Monday, April 28th.
