Members across the Central Region of the Ontario Provincial Police have been busy with increased calls for service due to the freezing rain that hit the region over the weekend. The Freezing rain continued throughout the majority of the day yesterday and has caused significant damage to trees and power lines in parts of Dufferin County. High winds entered the region Sunday night, causing additional damage to trees and power lines. OPP and other emergency crews remain diligent in their efforts to keep individuals safe and crews are working tirelessly to restore power to those affected. Multiple localities throughout the region remain in states of emergency, including the City of Orillia, The City of Peterborough, the District of Muskoka and the Township of Oro-Medonte. The District of Muskoka and the Township of Oro-Medonte closed all city facilities on Monday.
