We’re heading back to the polls!
A federal election has been called by Prime Minister Mark Carney, dissolving Parliament. He made the announcement on Sunday, March 23rd in Ottawa.
The announcement comes just nine days after Carney was sworn in.
Prime Minister Carney says he’s seeking a strong mandate to stand up to U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade threats and defend Canada’s sovereignty.
The campaign is expected to bring significant political shifts, with Carney steering the Liberals in a new direction, while Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre vows to reverse key Trudeau-era policies.
Other leaders, including the NDP’s Jagmeet Singh and the Bloc Québécois’ Yves-François Blanchet, are also pushing for change.
Recent polls suggest the Liberals have gained momentum under Carney, but Trump’s unpredictable actions could shape the race in the weeks ahead.
The federal election is officially set for Monday, April 28th.
