The Milton Menace are now eyeing their broom closet after another big offensive night.
In game three of their first round match-up in the OJHL playoffs, the Menace hosted the Burlington Cougars at the Milton Memorial Arena. Milton was leading the series 2-0 heading into this game.
It was Burlington that jumped out to a lead first. They scored back-to-back goals in the second half of the first period. Thankfully, Captain Graeme MacAuley would bury his 1st of the playoffs, with help from Justin Dezoete and Madden MacDougall on the powerplay. Milton was down 2-1 after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, MacAuley would score again on the powerplay to tie things up, assisted by Dezoete and 16-year-old Ryder Cali. It would be Cali who then captured the lead for Milton. His 1st of the OJHL playoffs was assisted by MacDougall and Dezoete. The Menace led the Cougars 3-2 after two periods of play.
Milton would get some insurance in the third period, with Tristan Tremble netting his 1st of the postseason, assisted by Ivan Fabjan. Burlington would quickly follow-up with a goal of their own to keep it close, but it wasn’t for long. MacDougall would score two more times, including an empty netter, and Spencer Vandenberg would add one final dagger with six seconds left to clinch the win. Milton beat Burlington 7-3 to claim game three, and go up in the series 3-0.
In net for the Menace was Carter Bickle. He stopped 33 of 36 shots for the .916% save percentage and the win.
1030 people were in attendance at the madhouse.
Game four will be a road game for the Menace as they head to Burlington’s Central Arena. In last year’s first round, the Menace also led the Cougars 3-0 heading into a Friday night. The Cougars would get the win in game four before Milton won the series at home in game five. Read more here.
Game time for game four is set for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14th.
If it ends up going to game five, it’s pre-emptively scheduled for Sunday, March 16th at 6:00 p.m. Buy your tickets for any/all home games here.
