The Milton Menace are up in their first round series against the Burlington Cougars.
On Friday, March 7th, the Menace kicked off their playoff run in front of 1028 people at the Milton Memorial Arena.
Luke Johnston would open the scoring in the first period, with Captain Graeme MacAuley and Justin Dezoete getting the assists. It was 1-0 Milton after 20-minutes of action.
In the second period, Ivan Fabjan would get on the board, with help from MacAuley and Johnston on the powerplay. Madden MacDougall would follow that up with a goal of his own, assisted by Dezoete and Johnston. Several minutes later, Dezoete would get a goal of his own, assisted by MacAuley and 16-year-old Ryder Cali. It was 4-0 Menace after two periods of play.
Milton’s top guys would continue their offensive firepower in the final period. Fabjan got his second of the game, with MacAuley and Dezoete getting the assists. Johnston also got his second of the game, with Cali and Dezoete notching the apples. While Burlington would get on the board with the help of the powerplay, MacDougall would score his second of the game, this time shorthanded, with Dean Deligeorgis and Markus Hicks recording assists. Milton would beat Burlington 7-1.
Carter Bickle was in net for Milton, stopping 31 of 32 shots for the .968% save percentage and win.
Game two in the first round series is scheduled for Monday, March 10th at 7:30 p.m. at the Central Arena in Burlington.
The Menace return home on Wednesday, March 12th for game three of the series. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Buy your tickets for any/all home games here.
