The Milton Menace flexed their offensive muscles this past weekend.
On Friday, February 21st, the Menace welcomed in the Niagara Falls Canucks to the Milton Memorial Arena.
It was scoreless in the first period, with the Menace outshooting the Canucks 16-9.
The floodgates then opened in the second period. Justin Dezoete opened things up with his 10th of the year. 22 seconds later, Dean Deligeorgis got on the board as well. Milton would then get three goals from Ryder Cali, Ivan Fabjan, and Luke Johnston. Niagara Falls would get one back before the end of the period, but the Menace would take a 5-1 lead into the final frame.
Cali would score back-to-back to get the hattrick. Tristan Tremble would then score shorthanded to guarantee the 8-1 win for the Menace.
Carter Bickle was in net for Milton. He stopped 28 of 29 shots for the .965% save percentage.
The Menace would stay home to host the Georgetown Raiders. It was the final home game of the regular season, and their annual Partner Appreciation Night!
Captain Graeme MacAuley opened the scoring for Milton. Nathan Catalano would follow that up with a goal of his own to make it 2-0 Menace after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, Luke Johnston found his way on the board. Marco Costante then made it a four goal game for Milton. Georgetown would bring it close before the end of the frame, adding three goals to make it 4-3 after two periods of play.
That’d be as close as they’d get, as Milton would pull away in the third. Dean Deligeorgis and Justin Dezoete would score, Catalano would add a second goal for his sake, and Johnston buried two more to give himself the hattrick. Milton beat Georgetown 9-3.
Austin McKillop was in net for Milton. He stopped 27 of 30 shots for the even .900% save percentage.
The Menace were strong at the Milton Memorial Arena this season. They finish with a 21-7-0-0 record over 28 games, scoring 131 times with just 71 goals against. They were 5th in the OJHL when it came to performing at home.
Milton has a quick turnaround as they head to Leamington on Monday, February 24th to play the Flyers. Based on the remaining schedule, this is the make-up game for their match-up that was postponed due to weather. Game time at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Menace will return home in March for their first playoff game. We’ll have more on that game as the season comes to an end.
