Up in the sky: it’s a bird, a plane, it’s the Ontario Provincial Police!
Leading up to the long weekend, OPP officers in Central Region will be on local roads, highways and in the air.
A plane from the OPP Aviation Services will be working with officers on the ground. The goal is to weed-out dangerous drivers who are putting their own lives and the lives of everyone else on the roads in jeopardy.
Officers will focus on the “Big Four” factors in serious and fatal collisions. Those are:
- aggressive driving
- inattentive driving
- impaired driving
- lack of occupant restraints
Aggressive driving includes, among other things, speeding, unsafe lane changes and following too close.
Specific locations for aerial enforcement will not be provided. It could be the highways, or it could be secondary roads.
Keep your eyes on the road at all times – not on your phone nor on the sky.
