The Milton Public Library (MPL) is hoping more residents discover the magic of their services!
From borrowing books and accessing countless eResources to using library spaces for study or work, MPL provides essential services that support both personal growth and community engagement, all free or at minimal cost.
The local library has announced its annual Library Sign Up Month campaign for September, encouraging all residents to explore the numerous benefits of becoming a library cardholder. Throughout the month, MPL is highlighting a wide range of services and resources available to cardholders, emphasizing the valuable role a library card plays in enriching the community.
CEO and Chief Librarian of MPL, Sarah Douglas-Murray, shares why anyone and everyone in Milton should have a library card:
To make library services more accessible, MPL has recently introduced a no ID required policy for adults and teens signing up for a library card. This initiative aims to remove barriers and make it easier for all community members to enjoy the benefits of the library, regardless of their documentation status.
MPL also offers a variety of programs designed to engage community members of all ages. From storytime sessions and crafts for children to teen book clubs and adult workshops on various topics, there is something for everyone. The Library also has services available for new comers to Canada and Milton. These programs foster learning, creativity, and community connections.
The experiences of MPL’s patrons highlight the library’s value to the community. Monica Singh, a long-time patron, shares:
“I have been going to the library from a very young age, and it’s my favorite place to be.”
Alicia Sword, another patron, notes:
“I love the fact that MPL offers book club kits; it allows our group to come together.”
Dante Souriyasack adds:
“Staff are really great here. They will always help and guide you. They also have a lot of public events for you to go around and meet people, and it helps to get your community hours done.”
Signing up for a library card is easy and free. Residents can apply in person by visiting any of MPL’s three branches—Main Library, Sherwood Branch, or Beaty Branch. Alternatively, residents can sign up online through MPL’s website, beinspired.ca, or via the MPL app. By registering online, residents have the option of a digital library card to put on the app for easy access or a physical card available only in-branch.
