The third annual Hockey Night in Dufferin-Caledon (HNDC) is being hailed as a huge success!
Dufferin-Caledon Member of Parliament, Kyle Seeback, says the event managed to raised $150,000, smashing their goal set before the night. That money will be used to purchase of an MRI machine for the local hospital.
MP Seeback issued the following statement following the cheque presentation:
“Tonight, we raised $150,000 for our local hospital, the most that’s been raised in the three years I’ve been hosting this event, bringing our community that much closer to having a much-needed MRI machine here that will help save lives. In just three short years, HNDC has now raised over $350,000 for this cause. The growth and support of this event by the community has been phenomenal.
“The immense success of this event wouldn’t be possible without the incredible sponsors. Enercare, our title sponsor, returned for a second year in a row. I can’t thank Enercare enough for kicking off the fundraising months ago, inspiring many other businesses and organizations to also support this great cause. We had more than 50 sponsors this year, breaking yet another record for HNDC!
“I’m also extremely grateful to all of the elite hockey players who gave their time to be here tonight to put on a fantastic game for everyone to enjoy. We were extremely fortunate to have NHL talent, such as Doug Gilmour, Darcy Tucker, Mike Krushelnyski, Aaron Downey, Brett Ritchie, draft pick Logan Sawyer, and the Frasca brothers. Team Caledon made a comeback this year winning the game 13-10.
“There are many others to thank for their outstanding contributions to the event, including Teen Ranch for donating the ice time, to the many volunteers who ensured the event progressed seamlessly from start to finish, to every donation of food, water, and prizes by local businesses. Every single contribution made the event a resounding success.
“HNDC sold out again this year! A big thank you is also owed to every person who bought a game day ticket and to everyone who bought a raffle ticket. Every dollar from the sale of these tickets will go towards the purchase of the MRI machine. I can’t thank everyone enough!
“I’m so very proud of what our community achieved tonight. Dufferin-Caledon came together again for a third year in a row to take another significant step forward in bringing an MRI machine to our local hospital while enjoying Canada’s favourite pastime. What a terrific night!”
The event was held on Thursday, August 14th, at Teen Ranch in Caledon.
