The Mill Place Apartments at 17 Church Street have a long history in Orangeville.
Originally part of an 8-acre plot, a portion of the property was sold three times between in 1875 & 1913, landing in the hands of J.M. Dod.
The building was built as a knitting and carding mill, powered by electricity.
During World War II, Dod added two additions and a water tower.
The mill closed in 1966, and was converted to apartments in the early 1980’s.
The building even won an Ontario government award for successful rehabilitation.
