Could you imagine buying a home for just $800?
Around 1881, the home at 32 Amanda Street in Orangeville was built by William and Elizabeth Morrow (nee Dickie).
The couple purchased the property in 1879 for $100.
The family members didn’t just live in Orangeville; they worked here too!
One of the Morrow’s son’s, Russell, owned a jewelry business on Broadway from 1914 to 1954, with sons William and Myr Morrow taking over the business afterwards.
The Morrow’s retained ownership of the property at 32 Amanda Street until 1939, when it was sold for $800.
A portion of the west part of the lot was sold by Jackson Homes to the Orangeville School Board in 1954.
