The Milton Menace got back in the win column after travelling down to Niagara Falls Sunday afternoon.
It had been a couple of weeks since the Menace last played the Canucks, but the game allowed the boys to bounce back after a tough loss to Trenton earlier in the week.
The opening frame was all Milton. Jonathan Mead kicked off the scoring with his 4th of the season, assisted by Alessandro Petreccia and Gavin Sheehan. Justin O’Donnell then buried his 14th goals, assisted by Madden MacDougall and Isaac Barrett. They didn’t stop there, as Tristan Tremble potted his 5th goal of the year, with an assist from Barrett and Nicholas Wereha. It was 3-0 Milton after 20 minutes.
In the second period, Alexander Siletsky was able to get on the board in the first 20 seconds, netting his 9th goal, assisted by Mead and Graeme Macauley. The Canucks were able to get one back shortly after, but that was answered by Petreccia. His 8th of the year was assisted by Mead and Captain Connor Driscoll. Niagara Falls scored right before the end of the period to make it 5-2 Milton heading into the second intermission.
The Canucks were able to make it a two goal game in the third, but the Menace responded with MacDougall’s 16th goal, assisted by O’Donnell and Joseph Macchione. Right before the end of the game, Marcus Tryfon got himself on the board. His powerplay marker was his 2nd goal of the season, and it was assisted by Petreccia and Macchione. The Menace beat the Canucks 7-3.
In net was Ariel Zaslaver. The Menace back-up goaltender faced 20 shots, stopping 17, giving him an even .850% save percentage.
Next up for the Menace will be another road game, this time against the Brantford 99ers, on Thursday, January 18th. Puck-drop at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre will be at 7:30 p.m.
The next home game for the Menace is scheduled for Friday, January 19th. They host the Mississauga Chargers at the Milton Memorial Arena. Game-time starts at 7:30 p.m. Milton Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be found here.
