Last week, grade three students at Orangeville Christian School showed their appreciation for the Dufferin County Public Works team!
Students shared cards and notes expressing thanks to the dedicated crews that allow everyone to get where they need to go safely all winter long.
“We work hard to keep our roads clear all winter long, but everyone has a role to play in keeping our community safe,” says Scott Martin, Operations Manager, Dufferin County.
“We ask that road users give snowplows lots of space and not follow too closely, and that they never try to pass a working snowplow. Children should never play in, on or near snowbanks on the sides of roads. If we all do our part, we can make the season safer for all.”
The cards are now on display at the Dufferin County Primrose Operations Centre and have been shared with the Amaranth, East Garafraxa, Grand Valley, Melancthon, Mono, Mulmur, Orangeville and Shelburne snowplow teams.
“These cards are so appreciated by our crews,” says Scott.
“They work around the clock, including on weekends and holidays – like during this holiday season’s severe winter storm – to keep residents and visitors safe on our roads. We thank the students for recognizing us, and for giving us the opportunity to share our passion for safety.”
In total, Dufferin is responsible for clearing approximately 700 lane kilometres of County roads during each winter weather event.
