Not even The Great One’s birthday could help the Brantford 99ers on Thursday night.
The Milton Menace went into Gretzky Main Arena to take on one of their bigger rivals. The last time the two teams played each other was on Sunday, December 18th when the 99ers shut the Menace out 3-0. Read the recap here.
The first goal came 8:36 into the first period. Connor Driscoll netted a goal with assists from Myles Perry and Jared Coccimiglio. Seven minutes later, Lucas Buzziol scored with assists from Justin O’Donnell and Aidan Hughes. It was 2-0 Milton after one period of play.
The 99ers would score a goal to start the second period. The Menace would get that one back, with Ivan Fabjan scoring shorthanded. Dylan McFadden got the lone assist. Perry then got a goal of his own (assisted by Driscoll and Coccimiglio) and so did Hughes (assisted by Cole Semeniuk and Owen Kindree). The Menace were up 5-1 after 40-minutes.
Driscoll opened the third period with a powerplay goal, assisted by Semeniuk and Coccimiglio. The 99ers got their second of the game, and then Coccimiglio sent the game home with a final goal (Perry and Driscoll getting the helpers). The Milton Menace won 7-2.
Will Goumas was in net for Milton, according to the box score. He didn’t face much action, stopping just 13 of 15 shots. That gives him a .866% save percentage on the game.
Next up is the Georgetown Raiders. The game will be held at the Milton Memorial Arena as part of Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Night. Read all about it here.
The Milton Menace are 25-12-1-2 over 40 games this season, giving them 53 points on the season. They are in fourth place of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) North/West Conference, up four points over the Pickering Panthers with one game in hand. The Menace are led by the play of Aidan Hughes, who has 24 goals and 39 assists in 40 games played. You can check out the team’s player stats here.
The Georgetown Raiders are slightly ahead of Milton, with a 26-8-3-2 record in 39 games. That gives them 57 points on the season and placing them in third in the North/West Conference. Leading them is Rhys Chiddenton, who has 29 goals and 37 assists in 39 games. View the player stats here.
