Police are investigating after a two-seater plane crashed into the middle of a major Ontario highway.
Ontario Provincial Police say the Cessna 150 crashed into the centre median of Highway 401 just outside a rest stop directly west of the Ontario-Quebec border last night.
They say one person onboard was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries while a second person with non-life-threatening injuries was sent to hospital by ambulance.
Police say the initial investigation suggests the plane experienced mechanical issues after taking off from a small Quebec airport nearby before crashing into the highway around 8:15 p.m.
