We ask a lot from Police Service Dogs (PSD).
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) were able to wish their PSD Arrow a happy retirement on Monday, November 28th.
Neighbouring police force, the Toronto Police Service, details that Police Service Dogs are “responsible for arrests of persons trying to evade police as well as locate property, firearms, drugs and other crucial pieces of evidence leading to criminal charges and arrests.”
Police dogs typically retire between the ages of seven and 11, depending on how well they age. The HRPS did not detail Arrow’s exact age, but regardless, we’d like to wish the hardworking pup a happy retirement!
Today, our PSD Arrow will be working his last shift alongside his handler Cst. Gibson.
