Mechanical robots, flying drones, attack dogs, and explosives!
No, it wasn’t the set of a new movie being filmed in our area;
These were just a few of the things local residents and students got a chance to check out at yesterday’s open house at the Dufferin OPP station in Mono.
“We wanted a chance to connect with our community, so we thought an open house would be a great way to interact with some of our students [and residents] in the area,” said Terri-Ann Pencarinha, A/Sgt with the Dufferin OPP.
“A lot of the kids here are in Grade 11 law class, so they’re getting [the opportunity] to learn a tonne today.”
One of those students was Daminen Stubbington, a student at Centre Dufferin District High School.
“It’s a great opportunity for anyone looking to get into [joining] the police force” he said.
In addition to various demonstrations, residents interested in joining the auxiliary unit also had the opportunity to speak with recruitment officers.
