GoFundMe has frozen 4.2 million dollars raised over the past 11 days, by organizers of a trucker convoy known as “the Freedom Convoy”.
The funds will be returned by the American for-profit crowdfunding platform, when it receives documentation about distribution of the money.
The Freedom Convoy is heading from B-C to Ottawa, and is slated to roll through Orangeville on January 28th.
The secretary of the Western separatist Maverick Party says the money will go to provide drivers with food and fuel.
The drivers are in protest of the new rule that Canadian truckers must be fully vaccinated, in order to avoid a 14-day quarantine when they cross the border from the USA.
There are 3,424 new cases of COVID-19 in Ontario today, 626 people are in ICU.
Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health has reported 10 new cases in Dufferin County.
