While the province has paused AstraZeneca for COVID-19 vaccine first doses, those who got it made the right choice.
That is according to Associate Medical Officer of Health for Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Dr. Matthew Tenenbaum.
Tenenbaum released a statement late last week, assuring the 20,000 people in the region who got the AstraZeneca vaccine that blood clots are still considered very rare.
He adds no one wants to hear that a medical treatment they’ve received might put them at risk but, the surveillance system has done what it is supposed to do – take new scientific information and adapt our practices accordingly.
