The Town of Orangeville is quarterbacking a uniform tow truck licencing bylaw on behalf of Dufferin County municipalities.
Mono CAO, Mark Early explains regulating tow trucking companies was previously held at the county level, but the county realized it didn’t have the authority to enact a bylaw.
Regulation is something that’s been pushed for by the OPP.
A licencing bylaw would demand towing companies to provide municipalities with a list of their trucks and operators, which would in turn, grant them permission to operate locally.
