Family Transition Place will honour victims of the Montreal Massacre through an online vigil this year.
On December 6th, 1989 Marc Lepine stepped into a mechanical engineering class at the École Polytechnique, and ordered the women and men to opposite sides of the classroom.
He told the men to leave, then said he was “fighting feminism”, and proceeded to gun down the women.
Lepine murdered 14 women that day.
Last year marked the 30th anniversary of the tragedy and after last year’s vigil, community members met to discuss local issues related to domestic violence with the hopes of developing solutions on a municipal and provincial level.
The online vigil is happening online on December 6th at 11:30 am.
