Jody Leeson Richardson is a huge town booster.
From a young age, Jody was taught that community meant more than just a place where you lived. As a young lady she volunteered at the local hospital as what was known then as a candy striper.
When she was 22 years old she opened her own hair salon called Jody’s Flair for Hair, and quickly became one of the best in the area.
But Jody continued to give back to the community she grew up in. When Orangeville Community Radio started up in the 1990’s, Jody was one of the very first sponsors to jump on board and help the small station get on it’s feet.
Jody continues to this day to support local charities and fundraising initiatives, even being an executive with minor baseball and helping withe the Orangeville Outlaws Football club.
Recently she was approached by Headwaters Health Care Centre and asked if she and her family would be willing to tell their story about their heart conditions to help raise money for much needed defibulators.
Jody says that it is so important to give back to a community that has given her so much as well.
She stays on top of all the local goings-on, but when asked if she would ever consider running for local council, she chuckled saying that her skin isn’t thick enough for that job.
