Toronto Police Service (TPS) has arrested five men in connection to March’s dramatic child kidnapping.
On the morning of March 4th, on his way to school, 14-year-old Shammah Jolayemi was abducted and taken away in a Jeep Wrangler.
An Amber Alert was issued just after midnight on March 5th.
That same vehicle was found torched the next day in Forks of the Credit Park in Caledon.
Shammah was eventually found unharmed at a barn in a rural Brampton area, and TPS alleges he was kidnapped as retribution for his brother stealing $4 million worth of cocaine.
On Tuesday (May 12), Toronto Police arrested five GTA men while search warrants were being executed.
37-year-old Scott McManus of Toronto is charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence (Kidnapping for Ransom), conspiracy to commit an indictable offence (Traffic Cocaine), possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana, possession of proceeds of crime (over $5,000), possession of property of crime.
38-year-old Samir Abdelgadir of Mississauga and 25-year-old Liban Hussein of Toronto have each been charged with: conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, kidnapping for ransom, forcible confinement, break and enter with intent, uttering threats (Bodily Harm), uttering threats (Death) and arson.
30-year-old Hamed Shahnawaz of Brampton, has been charged with kidnapping for ransom, forcible confinement, break and enter with intent, uttering threats (Bodily Harm), uttering threats (Death) and arson.
29-year-old Solaiman Nassimi of no fixed address, is wanted for kidnapping for ransom, forcible confinement, break and enter with intent, uttering threats (Bodily Harm), uttering threats (Death) and arson.
25-year-old Jeremy Proctor of Toronto was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana, possession of proceeds of crime (Over $5000) and possession of property of crime.
Police don’t believe Proctor was involved in the abduction.
Toronto Police also seized one kilogram of cocaine, more than 70 lbs. of marijuana, approximately $130,000 cash, body armor, cell phones and other electronic devices.
