Shelburne and District Fire, along with the help of Mulmur/Melancthon Fire Department, were up all morning battling a residential blaze that left two adults without a home.
Shelburne fire chief, Brad Lemaich says fire crews were called at 3:15 am, to a structure fire at a small home in Horning’s Mills on Main Street.
The residents were awoken by fire alarms and immediately vacated the home, but couldn’t get their pets out.
Lemaich says firefighters rescued 3 dogs and 1 cat, and then launched an aggressive interior attack, but by the end, little to nothing was salvageable.
He says Red Cross is now helping the family get back up on their feet.
Lemaich says the fire is not deemed suspicious, but fire departments will continue to investigate the cause.
