Despite widespread business shutdowns caused by COVID-19, the pandemic is proving to have some employment opportunities.
Executive director at Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin, Charlene Hofbauer says there’s a huge demand for home support workers in Dufferin County.
Hofbauer says the demand has been steady all through the pandemic but it’s been difficult to find workers who are willing to sometimes work in long term care homes, where many virus outbreaks are occuring.
To compensate, she says employers are making the transition smooth with additional resources and information supplied by Public Health.
