Despite leading a successful career in fashion and art in Toronto, Marci Lipman always wanted to be a farmer.
She caught the gardening bug at a young age while helping her grandparents plant vegetables and fruits and ate them as a reward.
When Marci moved to Mono, she saw how much homegrown food was fed to livestock at the end of the day, just because farmers weren’t able to connect with local consumers and sell their products.
That’s when Marci put her business skills to use and created the Headwaters Farm Fresh Guide, a map and list of where to find local growers.’Marketing for artists is not much different than marketing for farmers’, she muses.
‘Artists don’t want to be bothered with advertising their work and farmers are out in fields without any time to be bothered with it either.’
