And so it’s settled, the Orangeville Transit Transit station will be located at along Broadway between John and First streets.
Orangeville council debated if the transfer station should be located at the Edelbrock Centre or downtown, and the Orangeville Transit Task Force recommended the downtown location.
But mayor Sandy Brown opposed the downtown location.
Brown is also concerned about pedestrian safety, as he worries riders transferring buses will J-walk across the street to switch buses.
He also says fumes from idling buses will be a nuisance to passing pedestrians and nearby businesses and apartments.
To make Orangeville Transit even more efficient, there will be an added route, bringing the total routes to 4.
However there won’t be transit service on Sundays.
According to CEO, Ed Brennan, Sunday ridership numbers are based on Saturday ridership numbers, which aren’t enough to spill over into the need for Sunday service.
