Dufferin County’s food waste challenge is well underway and myFM caught up with one food waste champion.
Orangeville councillor Lisa Post has been posting weekly updates on her progress in the challenge and says it’s given her a new perspective on food waste.
The food waste challenge is the county’s effort to get residents to be more mindful about their food consumption habits.
According to Dufferin County, households throw away 40 percent of food, mostly consisting of produce, that’s an average of $125 down the drain each month.
