Orangeville Police is looking for the driver of a white car that hit a teen boy walking to school near Orangeville District Secondary School.
The 16-year-old was struck by the four-door car at about 9 a.m. last Friday (Sept. 13) while walking to school on McCarthy Street approaching Faulkner Street.
Police say the car stopped at the intersection, but when the boy started to cross the street, the back of his leg was clipped by the vehicle as it started to drive off.
The impact wasn’t enough to cause the boy to fall to the ground. The boy says he then saw the car swerve and hit the curb, followed by two loud popping sounds.
The driver is believed to be an older lady with white hair.
Police are continuing their investigation and would like to hear from anyone who might have witnessed the collision or who has information regarding the identity of the driver who fled the scene.
Anyone who has further information is asked to contact Orangeville Police at 519-941-2522 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.crimestopperssdm.com.
