Cricket in the park!
Shelburne is prepared to set up a cricket pitch at KTH Park.
CAO Denyse Morrissey says staff received a request from an unnamed individual requesting a pitch be set up in town.
She says the individual represents a group of people who played the sport in other communities and were interested in setting up a team or organization in Shelburne.
Morrissey says there isn’t a timeline for the project as staff await for a booking schedule before the town will begin painting lines on the KTH field.
However, since cricket demands a large field and because this is the first time Shelburne has been asked for cricket accommodations, the field will be programed for multi-use, such as a baseball diamond as well.
Morrissey says the town is offering complimentary, no charge fees for the duration of the season, which could be up until November.
The estimated cost to paint the lines is $250.
