Some of Ontario’s worst drivers can be found in Orangeville.
According to a new study released by InsuranceHotline.com, 9.4 per cent of participating Orangeville drivers admitted to having a traffic ticket and a collision on their driving record.
Bradford and Sault Ste. Marie tied for second at 8.4 per cent and Woodstock rounded out the top three at 7.4 per cent.
InsuranceHotline.com spokesperson Anne Marie Thomas says these are infractions and collisions that could have occurred in the driver’s hometown or anywhere their travels have taken them.
Orangeville Police Constable Scott Davis says between 2017 and 2018, personal injury collisions doubled from 19 to 39, and property damage collisions (vehicle damage exceeding $2,000) jumped 60 per cent.
The study also finds that on average, 6.9 per cent of drivers in Ontario admit to having at least one ticket on their record. At 15 per cent, Caledon drivers are the highest on that list followed by Orangeville at 13.2 per cent.
The study states that your driving record is an influential factor in determining your auto insurance rate. Where you live, your insurance history, and the type of car you drive are also factored, but your driving record and history is indicative of how you are when behind the wheel.
