Orangeville will get another new bus, but some councillors don't feel it is warranted.

It will be the fourth bus added to Orangeville Transit's new fleet. The purchase was approved in the 2018 budget and council approved the tender award at its last meeting.

However, Councillor Don Kidd voted against the purchase after hearing about problems with the current buses accessible seating.

Councillor Sylvia Bradley says she has heard of similar problems and that the buses are empty. She questions whether or not a fourth route is warranted.

Bradley adds that the town should have piloted the fourth route with a smaller bus before going ahead with the purchase.

Other members of council felt it was inappropriate to re-deliberate the purchase of a fourth bus when it was approved in the budget.

Public Works says that it is aware of the accessibility issues and that they will be fixed.

The new bus is being purchased from Metrolinx.
