A local entrepreneur and marketing studio are the latest to receive Starter Company Plus grants through the Town of Orangeville.

On Tuesday (Mar. 11), Ken Hall Art and Green Monkey Creative both received $5,000.

Hall, who created the hand-carved skeleton of an Orca whale that hung at the Dufferin Museum and Alder Street Recreation Complex, was awarded the grant in support of a new Augmented Reality app.

He says the app will allow for more engagement with the artwork.

Hall adds that AR is just starting to scratch the surface in the art industry.

The grant was made possible thanks to TD Canada Trust. Green Monkey Creative, a marketing studio, recieved its grant through the Orangeville & Area Small Business Enterprise Centre. Julie Thurgood, whose partner is Jessica Holder, explains the collaborative working space Green Monkey will offer.

She says this collaborative space is the first of its kind in the Orangeville area.

Thurgood and Holder hope to have their space open by the end of April.
