After spending nearly four decades in the utility industry, Orangeville Hydro President George Dick is retiring.

Dick spent the first 10 years of his career at Orangeville Hydro, starting as a meter reader and working up to become an engineer technician. He would then move to Brampton Hydro before becoming General Manager of Dunnville Hydro. Five years later, Dick returned to the local utility where he has spent the last 22 years.

Reflecting on his time in the industry, Dick says a lot has changed and it seems customer service has taken a backseat.

Dick adds that he is disappointed with the current state of the industry as a whole.

Dick speaks to the importance and benefits of having a local utility.

A farewell party for Dick will be held in May.

Dick says he plans to spend his free time finishing a sequal to his novel and playing more golf with his grandkids.

Manager of Operations and Engineering Rob Koekkoek will be appointed the new president of Orangeville Hydro.
