HABITAT FOR HUMANITY WDG TO BUILD MULTI-UNIT DEVELOPMENT ON BROADWAY
3/8/2018 10:06:32 AM

Habitat for Humanity Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph has acquired property on Broadway in Orangeville to build a multi-unit development.

CEO Steve Howard says the plan is to build six to eight affordable homes for local families and that is just the beginning.

Habitat will invest $1.8-million in the project. Howard hopes $600,000 can be raised over the next two years to complete the build.

According to last year's poverty report, about 10 per cent of Dufferin County lives in poverty and one in every nine households are at risk of homelessness. Last year, 525 households were on the wait-list for social housing.
