Shelburne will request for an OPP costing.

On Monday (Dec. 4), council voted 5-2 in favour of Councillor Wade Mills' motion to ask for an OPP costing. Councillors Randy Chambers, Steve Anderson, Dan Sample and Mayor Ken Bennington voted in favour.

Chambers says his decision was about getting all the facts.

Councillor Walter Benotto and Deputy Mayor Geoff Dunlop were against getting a costing.

Dunlop believes council should have first looked for a "Dufferin-made" solution.

Mills says getting an OPP costing has nothing to do with which service is better. He feels that council should have all the information on the table before it decides how to spend tax dollars.

Last week a staff report showed that police station improvements could cost anywhere between $5.3-million and $6.4-million.
