ORANGEVILLE TRANSIT EXPLORING NEW TRANSFER HUB AT EDELBROCK CENTRE
12/4/2017 10:46:55 AM

Orangeville's transit committee is in talks with the County of Dufferin to build a bus transfer station at the Edelbrock Centre.

The transit committee has been in search of a new transfer hub for over a year.

Potential use of the Orangeville Hydro substation on Dawson Road and a parking lot behind businesses at Broadway and First Street were looked into after the original Freshco plaza location was scrapped.

However, there were some concerns and objections with both locations. The substation property is too small and the Business Improvement Association didn't want to lose parking spaces in the downtown lot.

The county has agreed to look into using the land beside Edelbrock on Centre Street.

If the site can't be developed, Mayor Jeremy Williams has suggested a layby lane be investigated.
