WATER MAIN BREAKS IN SHELBURNE COST TOWN OVER $50K
11/14/2017 9:49:34 AM

Maintenance and repairs to the Shelburne water tower played a factor in a water main break last month on Victoria Street.

Mayor Ken Bennington and council have learned that the pipe burst in front of Town Hall cost $10,000 to repair.

To avoid further problems on Victoria, the town will replace the aging water main from Main Street to Andrew Street for $42,350. It will be paid for using money from a $55,000 reserve fund setup for water main repairs on Main and Simon Streets that haven't been used.

As for last Friday's (Nov. 10) water main break on Simon, it was caused by the change in temperature. The cost for that fix is unknown at this time.

Work at the water tower has been completed. It will be refilled Tuesday (Nov. 14) and back online by the end of the week.
