College students will keep their fingers crossed this week in hopes that faculty vote to accept the final contract offer from their employer.

Voting starts Tuesday (Nov. 14) and runs through Thursday for 12,000 college professors, instructors, counsellors and librarians who have been off the job since October 15.

The strike has left about 500,000 students out of class.

The Ontario Public Services Employees Union is asking its members to reject the offer that it says contains serious concessions that were not agreed to.

The College Employer Council that represents the province's 24 colleges says if the contract is accepted, students could be back in the classroom as early as next Tuesday (Nov. 21).
